Movement Concepts: A Review

Activities to Practice an Obstacle course: Here are the balance and weight transfer skills you have learned. There are also some ideas for transitions and jumps. When you create your obstacle course, you will have to include transitions (how you will get from one move to another move). You may use dance, steps, or ideas from this chart. Practice your skills and think about which ones you would like to use in your routine! It is now time to set up your obstacle course, use different items to travel over, around, and through your obstacle course. These objects can be anything around your house. Be creative and be safe. Use animal walks and different gymnastic moves to help you get from your start to your finish line. Activity 4- Create your Obstacle Course This is your final activity for the unit. You get to put all of your creativity and knowledge into practice. Put together your favorite balances and weight transfer skills in a sequence to complete your obstacle course. Use the chart below to help you plan your routine. Try challenging yourself. Add different items from around your house to jump over, go around, under, and maybe even through. Some ideas could be your backpack, pillows, stuffed animal, a blanket, a pair of shoes, or a cardboard box. Identify a start and a finish line for your obstacle course. Bonus: You can find a printed version of this chart in your Week 7 printed materials. Try to complete your obstacle course while only traveling through the same pathway: Don't forget to add household objects in your obstacle course to travel: |
