This week, we will be doing various movement activities and reflecting on our overall enjoyment.

Learning Goals for Unit:

Students live an active lifestyle and know how to stay fit and healthy.

Students can travel in a variety of movement patterns, levels, and pathways. 

Students can describe the enjoyment and/or challenge of participating in various physical activities.

Health Focus: Wash your Hands

It is important to stay healthy. Each week we will focus on a health topic to help slow the spread of COVID-19.

This weeks focus:  Washing Hands

When should you wash your hands?

  • Wash your hands before, during,  and after cooking food
  • Wash your hands before eating
  • After you have been outside or in a public space
  • Before and after caring for someone who is sick
  • After blowing your nose, coughing, or sneezing
  • Before and after treating a cut or wound
  • After using the bathroom
  • After touching an animal or pet, animal feed, or animal waste
  • After touching garbage

Activity 2- Locomotor and Non-Locomotor Movement Dance - Video
Directions: Moving your body from one space to another is a locomotor movement. There are other movements you can do that are non-locomotor movements too. Pick either video below and practice the locomotor and non-locomotor movements.

Directions: Moving your body from one space to another is a locomotor movement. There are other movements you can do that are non-locomotor movements too. Non-locomotor movements are when the whole body and body parts do not cause the body to travel to another space.   Can you spot the differences in the video? Pick either video below and practice the locomotor and non-locomotor movements.

Vocabulary for Movement Patterns:

Locomotor: movements where the body travels from one location to another.

Non-locomotor: the whole body and body parts do not cause the body to travel to another space

Movement: change of location or position 

Travel: to move in a constant direction or way

Enjoyment: To take pleasure from an activity
